Adjustments.

When you've lived two and a half years without a dishwasher, it's easy to forget that you have one.  I need to get into the habit of putting dirty dishes in the thing.

We are all three adjusting to new habits, and out of these will come a new routine.  Tim is no longer the full-time student, but now must be the teacher.  Evey is now a full-fledged 1st grader, and is learning to think like one.  And I have come from working full-time in a hospital, to working full-time raising Evey.

My only regret about our time in Fort Worth is that I didn't make the most of it.  I stressed about being in limbo rather than blooming where I was planted.  I kept trying to figure out what God had for us next.  But in His wisdom and irony, He blessed us beyond measure with an opportunity we never could have understood when we first moved to Texas.  I pray Christ will show me the way to always savor the time He gives me instead of just trying to survive in it.

Progress.

Our homeschooling year is now off on a roll.  Having electricity this week has definitely helped.  Last week the humidity was so high with no air conditioning that Evey's pencil would hardly make a mark on her paper. Here is a snippet my lovely daughter's writing:

"Once there was a little girl small as a mouse and her name was Nearla.  She lived in the hole by the stairs.  She would run away from the dog because she thought he was going to sniff her.  She thought he would try to eat her!  She smelled food in our refrigerator in our kitchen.  She smelled two of my Jellos, and she opened a little bit, and took out a little piece of the orange one, and stuck the lid back on with tape.  She took the Jello back to the hole by the stairs and put it on her little plate and ate it."

How we kept ourselves occupied during the hurricane.

We all handled the stress in different ways.  Tim made sure our food was properly stored and cooked thoroughly; he also cleaned the yard and kept the boogey man away.  Evey discovered that Mommy and Daddy are much more lenient with junk food when it's 90 degrees outside and there's no air conditioning.  Herschel slept.

I finished the Leaf Yoke Cardigan.

First post.

Happy Tuesday everyone.  Today is our second day of homeschool, and I'm so glad to be past our first day jitters.

My beautiful daughter is already a great student and is learning to be an even better one.
This little distraction must stay in his crate, as I find it hard to teach if he is nibbling my toes.

I have also been working on this.

Leaf Yoke Cardigan by Nashua Handknits in the Bloom book, size 6 months.  I'm using Rowan Handknit Cotton in a soft shade of light green.  It's deliciously complicated with all sorts of increases and decreases I've never done before.
